Nollywood actors Ibinabo Fiberesima and Emeka Ike have reconciled after years of being rivals in the struggle for the position of President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

The crisis was resolved at the 2017 Peace and Reconciliation Conference held in Enugu, which had representatives from 29 AGN state chapters in attendance.

Addressing the media, Ibinabo and Emeka agreed that peace was now very necessary as their division has stagnated the Guild and it has also rubbed off on the Nigerian movie industry.

Ibinabo said, “The division was not about I, Ibinabo, but about the BOT of the Guild whose tenure has longed expired and has refused to allow fresh ideas and innovations and I said NO, because Nollywood is a global phenomenon and the idea of life BOT will not just work."

Emeka added that, ‘’As you know this agitation has cost me a lot but today because of the youths I have embraced peace so we can build the future generation together. This reconciliation is for the young Actors in Nollywood."

Ibinabo also disclosed that her immediate plan was to take out her appeal in the court and call for a proper joint congress of both factions where the process to conduct a national free, fair and transparent election that will herald a new dawn in Actors Guild of Nigeria would be held.

She said, “Today is one of the happiest days of my life because we can now say Peace at last in AGN. Our members should be allowed to choose their leaders in a peaceful manner and by tricks and ambushing.

‘’This division has not helped us in any way. I thank Emeka Ike who has made this day possible.’’

Someone definitely shed a tear in the auditorium. Someone definitely did.

National Theatre Uncle Ebo Whyte Comeback

The series of quick misfortunes that clubbed the main character would be hard to take.

If you give your 'brother' millions to build you a house and run businesses in trust; surely it cannot be a DKM decision?

They say don't put all your eggs in one basket. But surely your brother is not a basket. He is a bond.

So when a man is forced into early retirement he propped up his disappointment by leaning back on his brother he trusted with huge investments and a woman he trusted with a big heart.

But cold-blooded betrayal curdles his blood enough for murder and suicide to suddenly look like poetic justice.

Uncle Ebo Whyte Comeback

Life for Jojo joked closely with Job. No wonder in a moment of his rage Jojo blurted out "God is a coffin", his best attempt at saying God is dead.

It is the unfolding of this theme of betrayal executed with flawless believable acting that would work up a tear duct in the audience.

This was hard to take.

But in the characteristic creativity of Roverman Productions, the object of our sympathy, Jojo, is also the object of our laughter. The one who made us feel hurt, made us feel his heart.

While we comforted Jojo in our hearts, the character comforted us in our ribs.

Comeback

This Italian 'borga' English-speaking deficiency is a delicacy in this drama.

How do you end up saying "Am not a hunger. Am eat a plane on the flight" when you mean to say you ate food on the flight you took?

"In the abundonment of water, the foolish man is a taste".

"I have come in a pieces' for 'I came in peace".

Jojo said he seduced his coach when he wanted to say he convinced his coach.

And how do you tell a man standing to "rise up on his knees"? How on earth can you say "Octopus is my favourite beverage"?.

Comeback

How do you end up saying the Lord is your "refugee and stone" in trying to remember the Psalmist say, the Lord is MY REFUGE and MY ROCK?

And just how does a man say "I am going to rise to the bottom of the top"?

"The devil you have know and the angel you have not known, the two of them, they know you." Really?

Uncle Ebo Whyte Comeback

These lines and I mean a 100 more creative grammatical and lexical catastrophe, litter the role played by Jojo.

His errors looked genuine because he was cast as a domesticated Italian whose limited English meant a free-for-all trial-and-error.

There is no enough leg room in the seats at the National Theatre. For if there were, the role of ushers at an Uncle Ebo Whyte production would not be to show people to their seats but to keep people from falling out of it.

Uncle Ebo Whyte Comeback

The problem with drama is that you cannot rewind the best scenes. So yes, I watched 'Comeback'. And yes - this Saturday, I will go back to watch comeback again.

In Jojo's voice, "am going to watch another more".

Nollywood actress, Uche Jombo, who was rumored to have quietly and secretly left her marriage to Kenney Rodriguez, has taken to her social media page to react to the fresh report.

Some weeks ago, the actress’ husband was reported to have been romantically involved with a lady in her 20’s identified as Teresa.

The report further added that the actress’ husband and the alleged side chick have been seen on dates.

In reaction to the claim, the actress took to her social media page on Instagram to write:

“The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.

“Dear Nigerian Bloggers, If you are going make up stories about my life or marriage try FACTS.

“Normally I will look at this stupid trending story on me today and look the other way but not TODAY!!! ENOUGH!!!!!! I find your need to create mirage tales of rancor where there are none in chase of a story/news outrageous.

“There’s no story here except a woman trying to balance her family life and work in 2 countries.

“Please LEAVE my FAMILY out of your manufactured made up stories, there are more important stories, real issues in world people are worried about than little old me.

“My only social media cover-up is pretending you ‘Zero journalistic ethics’ people didn’t hurt me by your unfounded and non-factual stories.”

Celebrated musician, Akosua Adjepong has started a campaign to encourage the youth especially young ladies to dress decently.

In an interview on Joy FM’s Cosmopolitan Mix with Doreen Andoh, she stated categorically that the manner in which some women dress lately is appalling.

Akosua Adjepong could not fathom the motive behind exposing one’s body and taking racy photos afterward.

The mother of six in reversing this trend has started a campaign dubbed ‘Cover Up’ to remind young ladies to dress appropriately.

As harmless as her comments may be, it appears that a number of social media users were not enthused by the advice of the artiste and rather descended heavily on her.

They questioned her moral authority to criticise the mode of dressing of some ladies when her biological sister, Stephanie Benson, has become synonymous with indecent dressing.

A number of them have sought to find out why she will rather not focus on having her sister dress decently.

Responding to these views by some social media users on Hitz News @ 1, the ‘Miyɛ Obaa’ singer acknowledged the concerns to do with her sister’s dressing but stressed that the campaign must continue.

She said, she has cautioned Stephanie Benson on countless occasions to be mindful of her dressing.

“I am always on my sister’s neck. I said that when she comes down she should dress the way that I will be happy. I am still on her,” she said.

Akosua Adjepong is set to release her new album in October this year.

We were pretty happy with YouTube TV when we first checked it out, but one of the service’s more glaring problems when it launched was availability, or lack thereof. As such, it comes as welcome news that Google has brought its cord-cutting service to 12 more markets in the US.

The new cities include Cleveland, Denver, Greensboro, Harrisburg, Hartford, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City, San Diego, and St. Louis. They join the previous YouTube TV markets of  Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne, Phoenix, Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, and San Francisco.

As a quick refresher, YouTube TV lets you watch live and recorded content in any of the aforementioned cities. So long as you are signed in with your Google account, as well as able to pay at least $35 a month, you are good to go. It currently features 57 channels, though the availability of some will depend on your zip code.

When we first took a look at the service, we thought it was a great start for Google, albeit one that needed some ironing out in a few spots. One of those spots is where you can watch YouTube TV, though it seems that Google takes availability seriously. As such, make sure to check back from time to time as we will continually update this page whenever the service gets wider availability.

A 27-year-old suspected murderer, Amadi, said he was arrested recently by policemen in Port Harcourt because of his dressing.

Amadi has been at large since December 19, 2016 when he allegedly stabbed somebody to death at Aker Base waterfront in Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The suspect told Daily Sun yesterday that he was apprehended on Monday, August 21, 2017 along Nkpordiagha road by policemen from Rumuolumeni Divisional Police Station overseen by Mr. Kingsley Chukwueggu.

He admitted to have committed the act as a retaliation during a fight with some boys who stabbed him and his companion.

Amadi said that he fled home after the incident in December 2016 and was nabbed recently when he boarded a tricycle from Nkpordiagha to waterfront to enter Port Harcourt City.

He said: “I was arrested on Monday, August 21 along Nkpordiagha road, by policemen when I wanted to cross water to Port Harcourt City.  Policemen were searching keke Napep (tricycle) passengers passing the road. They did not see anything with me but because of the way I dressed.  Police arrested me because I was wearing an earring and head-warmer. One of the policemen said I looked suspicious and arrested me.  I did not drag with them.”

He recalled the incident that led to the death of the boy was refusal of people carrying out oil bunkering at Aker Base waterfront to pay their daily fee to the community.

Amadi said he is an unemployed welder and was among the youths appointed by his community to collect money from the people doing bunkering business at the waterfront.

He explained: “When we got there (waterfront), we asked the boys doing business there the owner of the product. The boys did not respond.  We asked them again but none of them answered us.

- Governor Ayodele Fayose says the utterances and actions of President Buhari led to the agitations currently being witnessed in the country

- Fayose states that he is committed to the call for full and total restructuring of Nigeria through dialogue and negotiation

- The governor says he is glad that southeast governors have come to the realisation that they cannot ignore the agitation in the southeast region

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the agitations that have arisen in several parts of the country.

The Ekiti state governor claimed that the utterances and actions of Buhari which he said did not represent unity, fuelled the agitations, the Punch reports.

Fayose made the statement on Thursday, August 31, in reaction to the meeting of governors of the south-east states with leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

The governor said he was committed to the call for full and total restructuring of Nigeria through dialogue and negotiation because it is too late for Nigeria to disintegrate.

Fayose said he was glad that southeast governors have come to the realisation that they cannot ignore the agitation in the southeast region.

He said: “Particularly glad that Southeast governors have come to the realisation that they cannot ignore their own in times like these as agitation is normal and must not be ignored, although the approach should be handled with caution.”

The governor however, noted that certain utterances of the president triggered the agitations.

“The father figure of this country is President Buhari and if his language does not represent unity, there will be agitations like we are witnessing now,” he said.

“A father figure rallies even the bad boys in his house. His utterances and actions when he became President were against the unity of this country.

“How can a president say that he will only attend to the needs of those who gave him 97 per cent vote and neglect others who didn’t vote for him?

“For Nigeria to move forward and in unity; there must be no sectionalism, there must be no oppression and there must be justice and equity.”

Meanwhile, an Igbo socio-political group, Nzuko Umunna, has cautioned the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alhaji Abubakar Malami (SAN) against the move to re-arrest the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Prince Nnamdi Kanu, saying the IPOB leader has not done anything criminal except exercise his fundamental human rights of speech, association and movement.

Vanguard reports that the Igbo group also said it backs the stand of the President-General of the apex Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo who had equally cautioned the AGF to jettison what he termed double standard in making moves for Kanu’s re-arrest and his bail revocation while looking the other way in the case of the northern Arewa Youths Forum who had issued a quit notice to Ndigbo living in all northern states to vacate the region before October 1 or face physical attacks.

NAIJ.com gathered that the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in a message signed by Paschal Mbanefo, the group’s Secretary General and Jude Ndukwe, its Publicity Secretary, it urged the federal government to tour the line of peaceful dialogue with Kanu and his Biafran group as embarked upon by the South-East governor.

In the video below; NAIJ.com TV asked some Nigerians if the prefer restructuring or for Nigeria to split.

best Android TV apps
It’s been a couple of years since Android TV has come out and it’s been slowly maturing as a platform. It has more apps and games available for it than ever before. There could be more hardware available, but we’re sure that’s coming sooner or later. If you have an Android TV device and you’re looking to get the best experience, then check out the best Android TV apps! Also, most Android TV apps have a Chromecast built-in. That means any app with Chromecast support can be used on most Android TV devices!

Amazon Prime Video

Price: Free app / $99.99 per year
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Amazon is fairly ornery when it comes to their streaming services. Amazon Prime Video on Android TV is a no brainer. The Android app doesn't support Chromecast (only Fire TV sticks). Thus, the Android TV app is the only way to get it on an Android-powered TV without some sort of hassle. The selection is decent. Paying the price of admission also unlocks other Prime benefits. The service also includes a variety of specialized channels with additional content. It's not bad for what it is. The main app could really use some Chromecast support, though.

Google Play Music

Price: Free / $9.99-$14.99 per month
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Google Play Music is another obvious choice for Android TV apps. It has a rock solid music streaming experience. In fact, it's probably better than the mobile phone version. You can also upload 50,000 of your own songs to the cloud and access them anywhere. That makes this service the easiest way to listen to your locally stored music on your TV. Uploading music and select radio stations are free. The $9.99 per month charge is for on-demand music play. The $14.99 per month charge is for the family plan. For now, Google Play Music subscriptions also include YouTube Red. That's a great one-two punch.

Hulu

Price: Free / $7.99-$39.99 per month
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Hulu is slowly growing into one of the better Android TV apps. It has a decent video streaming service. There are just a ton of shows to watch. Additionally, the service allows for live TV for $39.99 per month. It includes a bunch of channels, including local sports channels. Going for the live TV option also includes all of Hulu's in-house streaming content as well. That makes it an enticing option for cable cutters. You can also add HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax for additional fees.

MX Player

Price: Free / $5.99
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
MX Player is one of the most solid video player apps on Android. It retains that title on Android TV as well. It can play pretty much any codec. The interface is simple to use. That makes it great for large, locally stored video collections. It's a bit buggy. However, Android's support for USB storage devices is also not great. Thus, it can be frustrating using an app like this one for stuff like playing videos off of flash drives. We recommend you try the free version before buying it, but we didn't have much trouble playing our videos.

Netflix

Price: Free / $9.99-$11.99 per month
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Netflix is among the most obvious Android TV apps. It has a huge selection, is binge friendly, and it's still among the cheapest video streaming services out there. The Android TV version looks and feels a lot like the Xbox and PlayStation versions. Thus, veterans of those platforms know what to expect. It also supports 4K video and HDR. However, your TV has to support it. You also have to pay the top tier subscription price. Otherwise, it's rock solid.

Pandora Music

Price: Free / $4.99 per month / $9.99 per month
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Pandora is one of the best music apps on almost every platform. That includes Android TV apps. It's still among the best fire-and-forget-it music radio apps available. They also have a new on-demand service for $9.99 per month. That puts it on par with services like Spotify, Google Play Music, and Apple Music. You could do much worse than this one. That's especially true if you just need some music playing in the background for parties or get-togethers.

Plex

Price: Free / $4.99 per month / $39.99 per year
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Plex was one of the first Android TV apps. It remains one of the best. Its main purpose is to play videos from your computer or phone to your TV. It also works with other types of files like music, photos, and more. The app also allows streaming from various cloud storage sites like Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive. It has a variety of apps that add more stuff you can watch. However, you'll need the Plex Pass subscription or a one-time in-app purchase to get them. It's a bit expensive, but it Plex does good work.

Spotify

Price: Free / $9.99 per month
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Spotify is another one of the obvious Android TV apps. It is a rock solid music streaming service. It also has podcasts and even some video content. Word around the grapevine says that they're experimenting with Hi-Fi music as well. That might sound really good coming out of your home theater set up if you have one. The prices have remained the same for ages. The selections are also far above average. We like Google Play better, but Spotify is just as good.

VLC

Price: Free

VLC is another one of the better Android TV apps for video playback. It supports pretty much every video codec. It also works for network streams, DVD ISOs, and even most types of audio files. It's probably the best all-around multi-media player for Android TV. Between this and MX Player, local video playback shouldn't be too difficult. The experience can be a little buggy. We're sure the bugs and small issues will be fixed over time. It's completely free and that makes it one of the must-have Android TV apps.

YouTube is a bit of a cheap pick for Android TV apps. We admit that. The service has more video than 1,000 people can watch in a lifetime. That includes comedy, tech, music, and even politics if you really want to make yourself angry. You can get an ad-free experience with YouTube Red. The Android TV version of this app has its ups and downs. In some cases, it may even be easier to cast from the app on your phone. It works well enough, though.
