App developers are pushing the envelope on a daily basis trying to improve and enhance our smartphone and tablet experiences. In fact, so many Android apps come out every day that it’s difficult to keep track of them all. It’s difficult to usurp the best of the best but if you’re getting bored with what you’ve got and want to try something new, check out the best new Android apps from the last month! You can watch the videos from past months by clicking here!

Amazon Prime Video

Price: Free / $99.99 per year
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Amazon Prime Video isn't technically new. Amazon re-released the app on the Play Store after a long time of absence. The app works fairly well. You get access to Amazon's video library. That inclues TV shows, movies, original series, and various channels. The channels may cost you extra, though. It doesn't have Chromecast support. That's a serious problem for a video streaming service these days. Otherwise, the app isn't half bad.

AMOLED mnml X

Price: Free / $1.99
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
AMOLED mnml X is a new wallpaper app. This one is for AMOLED and OLED screens. Most of the featured wallpapers have large amounts of black with a splash of color or other design. That way they can help improve battery life even if it's just by a little bit. There isn't a huge selection of wallpapers to choose from. However, what's there is enough for most to find something they like. It's a free app with a $1.99 pro version.

Fluxy

Price: Free / Up to $8.99
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Fluxy is a new screen recorder app. It works by periodically taking screenshots while you do whatever. The app saves the screenshots and even plays them back for you in order. The interface is quite hideous. However, we found that it did what it said it did quite well. This is definitely a niche product. Those who need a timeline of what they did on their phone definitely have one now. The app is free to download. The pro version has a variety of price tags, the maximum being $8.99.

Gyroscope

Price: Free / $9.99 per month
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Gyroscope is a new fitness app. It can bring in a bunch of information from other fitness apps. You can also add information manually. The app then keeps track of your steps, fitness, weight, and other health metrics. The free version does the basic tracking. The pro version goes for $9.99 per month. That includes more graphics, sleep tracking, and more in-depth information. It's still in beta. That means it's a little buggy.

Hurricane Impact

Price: $3.99
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Hurricane Impact is the official weather app of hurricanetrack.com. It helps track hurricanes. The app offers news in the form of blog and Twitter posts. It also includes video content, live camera footage of hurricanes, and other useful resources. That includes stats on potentially upcoming hurricanes. About the only thing we didn't like is the user interface. It looks old and clunky. However, the app works well enough. The app is $3.99 with no in-app purchases.

Mint Browser

Mint Browser is a surprisingly good new browser. Its main focus is security and privacy. That includes an advanced Incognito mode with encrypted bookmarks, browsing history, and even notes. The app also includes Tor proxy support. Mint Browser works surprisingly well as a browser. It manages to load webpages pretty rapidly. It also comes with ad block. The app is free to download with a pro version going for $1.49.

Mixer Create

Price: Free
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Mixer Create is the latest app from Microsoft. It allows you to live stream videos on your mobile device. It's made for gamers, mostly. However, you can use it for pretty much whatever you want. The app includes a chat, viewing metrics, and more. You can stream with your cameras or your screen as well. Microsoft has a separate app for viewing Mixer content. The account linking process is a bit of a pain. The actual streaming experience isn't half bad.

notin

Price: Free
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Notin is a simple little note taking app. It doesn't have a main interface like most others. Instead, you add a note and that note is added to your notifications. It stays there until you clear it out. This isn't great for long notes or notes that are meant to last a long time. However, it does work rather well with quick reminders for things you may often forget to do. It's free to download and use. It does need a little bit of optimization, though.

Reverse Dictionary

Reverse Dictionary is a simple reference app. It allows you to look up words by how they sound, how they might be spelled, and by descriptions of the word. There are a variety of niche use cases for something like this. It works great for people learning English. You can also use it as a thesaurus and even as a helper for crossword puzzles. The app is easy enough to use as well. It is also completely free with no in-app purchases or ads.

Split-screen creator

Price: Free / $0.99
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Split-Screen Creator is a tool for multitasking. It allows you to put two apps together into a single shortcut. The shortcut then opens both apps in Android's multi-window mode. This is very similar to the Galaxy Note 8 feature that does a very similar thing. This one also comes with support for icon packs. You can even have it open the same app twice. Do beware because it is rather buggy. You can download it for free. The full version runs for $0.99. You do need Android 7.0 or higher in order to use this app.
