WAEC to conduct exams despite Sallah public holiday

- The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has announced that the Sallah public holiday will not interrupt the ongoing exams

- The Agricultural Science and Woodwork examination paper for Monday, September 4, will hold as earlier planned

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has announced its intention to continue the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) despite the Sallah public holiday.

The WAEC's Head of Public Affairs Unit, Demianus Ojijeogu, who spoke with Punch, announced that the Agricultural Science and Woodwork Examination for private candidates slated for Monday, September 4, will not be postpone for the celebration.

Ojijeogu said: “The examination will go on as scheduled. We are not cancelling the examination.

“Candidates across the participating countries have been notified and we expect them to be at the examination centres on Monday.’’

Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has threatened to call for the scrapping of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) if it failed to reverse the low cut off points for admission into universities and polytechnics.

NANS' National Public Relations Officer Bestman Okereafor made this known in statement made available to the press in Enugu on Saturday.
