- Residents of Benue state have reportedly trooped out for a one-million-man march in support of the anti-open grazing law

- The law is slated to go into effect on Wednesday, November 1

- A group, Strict Movement Against Ravages in Tiv Land (SMART-LAND), is said to be the brains behind the march

A one-million-man march in support of the anti-open grazing law which is about to go into effect in Benue, is currently going on in Makurdi, the state capital.

According to The Sun, the march began on Tuesday morning, October 31.

NAIJ.com gathers that a group, Strict Movement Against Ravages in Tiv Land (SMART-LAND), is said to be the brains behind the march.

The march reportedly took off at the popular Wurukum roundabout, and is currently at the state House of Assembly.

The anti-open grazing law is scheduled to go into effect on Wednesday, November 1.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) appealed to the federal government to urge the Benue state government to extend the timeline for the implementation of the anti-grazing law.

Alhaji Garus Gololo, the national coordinator of the association, informed journalists that herdsmen would be able to resolve some grey areas in the law, if their request for an extension is granted.
