Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai today, Tuesday, November 28, decorated the 44 newly-promoted major-generals.

NAIJ.com gathered that the event took place at the conference hall of the Nigerian Army Command Guest House in Maiduguri, Borno state.

In his speech at the event, General Buratai stated that the choice of the venue for the investiture is predicated on the need to boost the morale of troops in Operation Lafiya Dole and for the newly decorated officers to celebrate their elevation with the people of the northeast, “who enjoy normalcy today as a result of the fruit of your service.”

He continued: “The large number of you that have merited to be promoted to this enviable rank of major-general indicates the significant attainment of my vision of having a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles.

“I will, however, enjoin you not to relent in your efforts but rather to see this elevation as a call to higher responsibilities, re-dedication and loyalty to the service and to the nation.”

He advised the newly decorated officers to see themselves as key players that will drive the vision of taking the Nigerian Army to the level that will be the envy and pride of other nations.

“For those that were not promoted, I urge them not to be discouraged but to see it as a challenge to work harder,” he added.

He urged the newly decorated officers to show commitment to be more dedicated and focused in the discharged of their responsibilities, adding that the next mantle of leadership of the Nigerian Army falls on their shoulders.

“We are proud to be among the professionally responsive vehicles for the crystallization of your vision hence, we remain absolutely committed to its advancement,” he said.

He urged his colleagues to justify their new position by consistently executing all assigned tasks in the most efficient and professional manner.
