There has been friction between Governor Nasir El-Rufai and teachers in Kaduna state over the plans by the state government to sack over 21,000 teachers who were said to have failed the recent competency test for primary school teachers.

Meanwhile, the governor has explained that only redundant staff will be affected by the cut which is to ensure that the local government do their jobs effectively without wasting scarce resources.

However, President Buhari has backed the educational reforms being undertaken by the Kaduna state government.

In another report, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, November 27, declared that the nation’s minimum wage should be anchored on social justice and equity.

Buhari said the government must aim to go above the basic social protection floor for all Nigerian workers based on the ability of each tier of government to pay.

Channels Television reports that he made this known while inaugurating the 30-member national minimum wage committee at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
