Court orders interim forfeiture of former governor Shema’s 13 properties (full list)

- A court sitting in Abuja has ordered an interim forfeiture of 13 properties belonging to a former governor of Kastina state

- The court also ordered that former governor Ibrahim Shema within the next seven day apply a motion on notice for the court order to either be discharged or varied

- The court's order followed an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday, November 6, ordered an interim forfeiture of 13 property belonging to a former governor of Kastina state, Ibrahim Shema.

The court in its ruling directed the former governor to within seven days of being aware of the court's order apply by a motion on notice to the court order to either discharge or vary the orders.

Justice Gabriel Kolawole ruled that the order of forfeiture, “shall operate” pending when fresh criminal charges would be instituted against Shema, named as suspect in the EFCC’s ex parte motion.

The court's order followed an application filed by the former governor praying for a setting aside or discharging the interim orders made by it.

Shema's application was preceded by an application of an ‘Ex Parte Originating Motion’ filed on October 6, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The property involved are liisted below:

1. A five-bedroomed duplex at Plot 1072, Asokoro, Abuja

2. A large farmland at Dutsi-Ma, Katsina State

3. 710 hectares of farmland at Chikaji, Igbabi-Kaduna

4. A fully-built duplex for residential purposes at House 5, Idanre Hills, off Kerang Spring, Maitama Extension, Abuja

5. A 1.05 hectares of land at Plot 352 Idu Industrial Layout, Abuja.

6. An underdeveloped plot of land at Plot 8505, E35 Karaway, Abuja

7. Two blocks of 12 flats consisting of three bedrooms each at 8, Attabara Street, Off Cairo Street, Wuse II, Abuja

8. A bungalow of four bedrooms at 5, Sullubawa Road, Unguwan Sarki, Kaduna

9. A bungalow of four bedrooms at 2, Safana Road, Kaduna.

10. A bungalow of four bedrooms at 8, Jaba Road, Kaduna

11. Office chambers of three rooms at E2 Waff Road, Kaduna

12. A fully built duplex of four bedroom for residential purposes at 5, Sambo Close, Unguwan Rimi, Kaduna

13. A completed duplex with boys quarters, 4, Oba Akenzuwa Street, off Yakubu Gowon Road, Asokoro Abuja.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the former governor said he was not on the run.

Shema said he was prepared to honour an invitation by the EFCC before he was declared wanted by the commission.

He also accused the commission of deliberately embarking on a false propaganda against him in the media.
